Navigating Trauma and Grief

Life's journey is filled with both joyous moments and trials that test our strength and resilience. For many individuals, these trials manifest as traumatic experiences or profound losses. Whether you’re mourning a loss or processing a trauma, grief is a critical part of the journey, and grief can be overwhelming. I am trained and experienced in walking through trauma and grief with clients, and I consider it a great honor.

Some topics I work with are:

  • Attachment Wounds and Family of Origin Issues: Our earliest relationships, especially those within our families, shape our emotional well-being. Attachment wounds and family of origin issues can leave deep emotional scars. I support clients as they explore and heal from these traumatic experiences, paving the way for healthier connections in the future.

  • Trauma from Foster Care or Adoption: While Foster Care and Adoption can be so beautiful, there is inevitably grief and trauma woven into the story of foster or adoption. Therapy provides a safe space to process these complex emotions, establish a sense of security and healthy attachment, and develop resilience.

  • Spiritual Turmoil: If religion and spirituality is important to you, it’s likely one of your core values. Having any kind of turmoil or abusive experience related to your faith can be incredibly painful and confusing. I am comfortable working with clients of all beliefs (or those who don’t hold any particular spiritual conviction) and holding space and respect for those beliefs. I have the most experience with Christianity, both personally and professionally.

  • Grief and Loss: Grief is an inescapable part of life, and therapy provides a nurturing environment to navigate the profound sense of loss that accompanies it. You might be mourning a loved one, processing the loss of a life phase, or experiencing acute and unexpected grief. No matter what kind of loss or grief you’re walking through, I can sit in the grief with you, not rush you through it, and be a caring support in the process.

Healing from trauma and grief is not a linear journey. It's a profound exploration of emotions, memories, and self-discovery. I utilize various modalities in my trauma and grief work, including traditional talk therapy, somatic work, as well as the trauma-specific therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

I consider walking with clients through seasons of grief and trauma to be a calling and an honor. It may not always feel possible to openly express your pain or explore the depths of your emotions in your day-to-day life, but that’s exactly what therapy will provide. The journey may be challenging, but you don’t have to do it alone, and I promise the effort will be worth it.
